Yesterday

I must begin today with a confession: I have failed. Yesterday marked an important event in history, one that I especially should have observed with great solemnity. Two hundred and fifty-five years ago yesterday, in 1750, Johann Sebastien Bach died at the age of sixty-five. I didn't listen to a single Bach composition yesterday. I will repent today. I am presently listening to the Cello Suites, performed by Yo-Yo Ma.

The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul. - Johann Sebastian Bach

Coincidently, yesterday was also the anniversary of the death of Antonio Vivaldi, who died in 1741 at the age of sixty-three. I will have to listen to something of his today, also. Perhaps a mandolin concerto.
